Inspiration Thursday: Fashion made easy

I'll be honest, I am not a super fashionable person. I try to wear things that I like, are comfortable, and for the most part are "in style." But, I often find myself starring at my closet saying "I refuse to get dressed today because I have absolutely nothing to wear!" This ongoing closet battle has only gotten worse as I have moved into the "mommy" stage of life and this is why....
A.I have little to no "personal" free time to shop, B.When I do shop I find myself feeling overwhelmed especially in those huge 1million sq.ft. Forever 21's, and C. I get side tracked and start shopping for baby clothes because it's so much easier then shopping for myself.

I spotted a helpful solution to this problem while browsing through emmas designblogg (a new favorite blog of mine!) When I saw this photo the first thing that popped into my mind was the word "brilliant." How awesome/time saving would it be if you could hang your outfits for everyday of the week on this rack (and if your clothes are fairly fashionable, it becomes a design feature in the space as well). You could choose all of your outfits for the week on Sunday and not have to even think of what to wear for a whole 7 days!

What do you think? Would you use something like this in your own home?

Something Sweet: Flag Pastry

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! As a kid I remember saving up my allowance so I could buy all of my favorite fireworks for our BIG family show. I say "BIG" because we celebrated the holiday with all of my extended family which included around 20 cousins who would bring their own fireworks as well. We would spend hours letting each kid light off their fair share of fireworks before the adults stepped in with the big guns!

It's always fun to do something patriotic for your Independence day meal plan...and this flag pastry would be a great crowd pleaser. My Aunt usually puts together a similar dessert only she uses a white cake instead of Puff Pastry, which is a perfectly acceptable alternative!

Just as a side note...my all-time favorite firework is the "Friendship Pagoda" I love how it pops up at the end and all the little windows light up. Every year I would keep my Pagoda and put it on display in my room, until the next 4th rolled around of course!

Do you have a favorite firework or 4th of July Family tradition?

DIY Tuesday: Glass Cake Stand

Remember the "Let Them Eat Cake" party I posted last week? Well, I promised I would post some of the simple projects I did for the party!
So, to start, here is the DIY for the simple Cake Stands!

First, I would like to note that these cake stands only cost me $2 each to make! Which saved me a ton of money especially considering that I needed 6 stands for all of my party guests.

I also did a similar version of this cake stand for my cousin's wedding,
and I really like how they turned out!

Fabulous Finds: "My Quotable Kid"

We've all heard the words "kids say the darndest things" right? Well, wouldn't it be nice to have an entire journal dedicated to those hilarious and precious words spoken by our little ones?

Hooray for creative thinkers because fortunately someone has already thought of that...

My wonderful sister in-law gifted me this fabulous book for my 26th birthday, which I celebrated earlier this month!

Although my little guy is just shy of being 18 months old, and isn't saying much more then "da-da, ma-ma, and na-na (for banana)" I am so excited to have this journal so I can keep track of all of the fun things he will be saying in the future!

If you are thinking that this book would be great as a gift, or you would like one for yourself you can pick one up Here for only about $10!

Happy Friday!

I don't know about you, but I am defiantly ready for a Friday!

Friday has always been the best day of my week. Even when I was growing up and had to go to school, at least I knew if I could just get through the day I would have all night and the rest of the weekend to relax and have fun. Now that I'm out of school I look forward to Friday's knowing that my husband will be off from work (meaning he will be less stressed, & he'll be home to entertain the little one :) Plus, we almost always have "Something Sweet" and watch a movie!

Whats your favorite day of the week?
