Adding abstract art to a space doesn't have to be hard or expensive. Ever since we were married, my husband and I have been creating personal art pieces for our home and we love it! The paint splatter technique has been around for a long time and is a great way to bring color and texture to a space. It's also something anyone can do, even if you don't have a background in art.
(above is a photo of Dale Chihuly, who is well known for using this very technique)

All you will need are these 3 basic items...
1. A blank canvas
2. Medium to large paint brush
3. Latex paint
Step 1. Put on some "I don't care what happens to you" work clothes and head outside, this technique can get a little messy!
Step 2. Lay your canvas in an area that can get messy, like the dirt or grass. Open your paint bucket, give it a quick stir and then dip the edge of your paintbrush in the paint (make sure it's nice and drippy).
Step 3. Start to splatter your canvas by using a quick flick of the wrist.
Step 4. There is no appropriate time to stop painting...its basically whenever you feel like your piece of art is complete. You can even wash out your brush and add multiple colors if you are trying to tie your room together. Then wait for the painting to dry and hang in desired location!
It looks incredible!
