This tutorial uses a recipe from allrecipes.com called French-Pastry-Pie-Crust.
Ingredients
3 cups all purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoons distilled white vinegar
5 tablespoons water
Step 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
Step 2. Add shortening. (I like to add the shortening in pieces, it seems easier to mix.)
Step 3. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles course meal.
Step 4. In a small bowl, combine egg, vinegar, and 4 tablespoons of water. Whisk together, then add gradually to flour mixture, stirring with a fork.
Step 5. Mix until dough starts to clump together and you can form a ball. If you feel like your dough is still too dry, add a more water 1 tablespoon at a time until the dough becomes the right consistency
.
Step 6. Allow the dough to rest in the fridge for about 10 min before rolling out.
